God be with you til’ we meet again

Hello beautiful people,

I can’t believe that we have made it to the final email of my time here in the England Manchester Mission. Who would’ve thought that I would’ve made it ?

I have not been the perfect missionary, I haven’t had the perfect mission, but my mission has been perfect for me.

In brief, let’s rewind, in scripture.

Wrekin. 3 transfers.

1 Nephi 3:7 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.

The land that I began my mission in. It was definitely a time of adjustment.

Manchester South. 1 transfer.

Mosiah 24:14 And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions.

15 And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord.

The transfer where I truly learned about the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

Crewe. 4 transfers.

11 O then, my beloved brethren, repent ye, and enter in at the strait gate, and continue in the way which is narrow, until ye shall obtain eternal life.

The area where I learned lessons that were critical for my eternal progression. My heart will always be in Crewe.

Runcorn. 4 Weeks.

Moroni 7:45-47 And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail–

But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him.

The four weeks where I learned the true meaning of charity.

Chester. 5 transfers.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

The area where I learned how to apply the lessons that I had previously learned and to always trust in God’s Plan. He loves us so much and desires only the best for us.

Companions

I am eternally grateful for the fourteen companions that I have been blessed to serve alongside. Each one of them is an individual, they have amazing strengths, capabilities, and talents and I’m eternally grateful for the things they have taught me. Each one of them had a different background, a different story but always inspired me in their courage to serve our Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ. In turn, they have all enabled me to change for the better and I can truly say that I’ve met some eternal friends.

Fun fact, they cover eleven different countries, five continents and have spoken twelve different languages. Not only has it been a privilege to be able to serve alongside such diverse sisters, but it is a true testament that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church.

Moreover, I definitely was able to travel the world while serving in one mission for eighteen months. While I wish I had the means to travel and see them all again, I hope to keep in contact and to be able to witness the blessings they receive through modern technology.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Thank you all for if not reading, receiving my group email. I have been truly blessed with the amount of love and support I’ve received.

I would like to leave you with my testimony that I know there is a God. He is more than a creator, he is more than a supreme being; He is our loving father in Heaven. We lived with him before, and He has created a plan for us to return to live with him once again.

All of this is possible through His only begotten son, Jesus Christ. I was blessed with the opportunity to have been able to build a personal relationship with the Saviour.

My mission has not been easy, and in all honesty, I’m not the best when it comes to facing trials, however with each challenge that I’ve been given, I’ve seen my strength and resilience grow. I might not be able to change the circumstance, but I can change my attitude and with an eternal perspective, I can feel at peace and assured that blessings will come.

Alma 26:30-31, 37 And we have suffered all manner of afflictions, and all this, that perhaps we might be the means of saving some soul; and we supposed that our joy would be full if perhaps we could be the means of saving some.

Now behold, we can look forth and see the fruits of our labors; and are they few? I say unto you, Nay, they are many; yea, and we can witness of their sincerity, because of their love towards their brethren and also towards us.

Now my brethren, we see that God is mindful of every people, whatsoever land they may be in; yea, he numbereth his people, and his bowels of mercy are over all the earth. Now, this is my joy, and my great thanksgiving; yea, and I will give thanks unto my God forever. Amen.

As you all know, I haven’t always had a knowledge of God, but I know that He has been aware of me; he knew my strengths, he knew my weaknesses, and he knew that with the gospel of Jesus Christ, He could make more of myself that I could alone. There are no words to express my gratitude for the missionaries who found me and it is a privilege to have been given the opportunity to share with others the truth. I have been refined and the journey does not stop here, I look forward to a life full of service and endurance as I continue to learn more of the Saviour, and strive to become like him.

I leave you these things, humbly, in the name of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Merry Christmas !

Much love,

Sister Madeleine Rose Turnbull
