Hello beautiful people,
For this week, let’s begin with a spotlight on Sister Mike, #turnupthemike
Favourite colour ? Black, I like blue, but I wear a lot of dark colours.
Yes, Sister Mike, because you must wear your favourite colour.
Favourite animal ? Cat, I bought a lucky charm cat.
Rewind. We were walking through the town and this elderly lady was walking around asking for donations in return for these ‘lucky’ charms. She approached Sister Mike and me, and I was reluctant, however Sister Mike began looking for a cat or a unicorn. The lady had this thick Irish accent which I could barely understand, but kept telling me that ‘£2.50 never broke anyone’. It wasn’t the most persuasive statement, so I didn’t buy anything but received hate from this woman. On the other hand, Sister Mike ended up purchasing a cat lucky charm, tipping her and the lady said ‘this girl is lovely’. Sister Mike never makes enemies.
Favourite song ? I am a universal listener, so I listen to any type of song.
I would agree as she has a diverse singing playlist that I hear when she showers.
Favourite film ? Horror movies. Fun fact, The Conjuring movies is produced by a Malaysian. Malaysian Pride. It is always a joke between the Malaysians.
Right, so she also says I look like Esther from the horror film, Orphan. Disclaimer: I am not encouraging anyone to watch horror films, Disney is better.
Favourite country ? There are three top countries which I must go to before I die. Japan, America and New Zealand. I don’t know why, but it has always stuck in my mind since I was a little kid. But if people ask me which part of Europe, I would say Italy.
She didn’t answer the question, but that was interesting.
Favourite food ? Chinese food.
This week I wanted to help Sister Mike feel at home in Crewe, so we had an ‘Asian Day’. We went to get noodles for lunch and bought this aloe vera drink which is her favourite. We also found an Asian Supermarket, which is rare in Crewe as it very Eastern European inspired, and she just lit up.
I hope that from these answers, you can see how irrelevant she can be quite quickly. She is actually hilarious and I am lucky to have her as a companion, friend and Malaysian twin.
On a spiritual note, Sister Mike and I were teaching a recent convert of the Crewe Ward, Mike, (yes, Sister Mike and Mike, you read that right), a lesson the other night, and I just said,
Hope is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and faith is walking towards that light.
Additionally, I received a Priesthood Blessing that expressed that I should study the counsel that Alma gives his sons. So direct ! Therefore, Sister Mike and I decided to read those chapters during our companion study and I have never ever received so many answers. I honestly learned so much, and I would encourage you all to read Alma 36 – 42.
Alma 37:16 But if ye keep the commandments of God, and do with these things which are sacred according to that which the Lord doth command you, (for you must appeal unto the Lord for all things whatsoever ye must do with them) behold, no power of earth or hell can take them from you, for God is powerful to the fulfilling of all his words.
17 For he will fulfil all his promises which he shall make unto you, for he has fulfilled his promises which he has made unto our fathers.
I mean, I only was driven through the place and went to a fireside at the stake centre, however, I still prefer Manchester. I don’t want to offend anyone, but I mean, I am an Oasis fan. #wonderwall
Moreover, our friend Sharon has anxiety and it has affected her a lot from coming to church and attending the fireside numerous times before. However, after much prayer and fasting, last night, she was able to overcome those fears and attend. I was so proud of her, and I knew that Heavenly Father was as well. She recognised that she felt the spirit, and is looking forward to making the necessary changes that she needs in order to be baptised. She went up to President Ulrich and asked if I could stay six more weeks, to which he replied with ‘I was thinking six more months’. Not good. I am probably leaving Crewe. Pray for me to stay.
WARNING: I may or may not be able to email next week. Next week is transfers and it is Easter Monday. Because it is a bank holiday, we have the privilege to go to the temple ! Ahhhhhhhh I am so excitedddddddddddd. Oh, and the best part about it is that we will be going with Sister Cooper and Sinead ! I love her so much and I am so glad that she will be able to feel the spirit in the House of the Lord and to her to receive the blessings she deserves.
Much love,
Sister Turnbull
